Dear parents/carers, 

The homework expectations for children in year 5 are changing slightly week commencing 26th February 2024. 

To best prepare the children for their SATs next year and improve children's maths progress, we are increasing our maths practise, focusing on arithmetic. 

Children will now be sent home with 5 arithmetic questions every night to be returned the following day which will be gone through as a class. Children need to bring their work back into school and it can then be stuck into registration books. 

Children have also been offered extra test practise to take home with them if they wish. Lots of children in year 5 have wanted to do this, which is amazing! 

As well as arithmetic homework, children must also complete spelling and maths homework on Purple Mash once weekly, TTRS practise and reading / adding comments to their diary.
