This term we will be:
History: The Roman Empire Lace up your sandals, legionaries! This term, we are marching into the world of theRoman Empire. Discover how Rome grew into a world superpower, explore mighty conquests, and learn how Roman engineering and armies changed history forever.
Science: Living Things & Animals Get ready to become Life Scientists!
This term, we are investigating Living Things and Their Habitats. We’ll classify animals by their unique features, map out food chains, and explore how creatures adapt to survive in diverse ecosystems around the world.
Reading: Whales & Coastal Mysteries Plunge into the deep ocean! We’ll be reading the non-fiction text The World of Whales alongside Michael Morpurgo’s novel Why the Whales Came. Together, we’ll expand our vocabulary, sharpen our prediction skills, and debate environmental issues as we explore the secrets of the sea.
Maths: Place Value Unlock the power of numbers! This term, we are mastering Place Value—learning to build, compare, partition, and order larger numbers. Through visual models and reasoning challenges, you’ll strengthen the foundation needed for all future mathematical problem-solving.
Art: Storytelling Through Drawing Calling all visual storytellers! In Art, we’re exploring Storytelling Through Drawing. You’ll learn how to convey action, setting, and emotion through illustration, using line, texture, and shading to bring your own imaginative stories to life on paper.
Multiplication Table Check
One of the primary focuses for Year 4 this year is preparing for the Multiplication Check scheduled for July. Understanding the significance of this assessment, we will work diligently throughout the year to ensure that students have a solid grasp of their times tables.
To support our efforts, parents are encouraged to engage with their children in practicing their multiplication facts at home. In our classroom, we will implement a weekly focus on a specific times table, utilizing spare moments during our day. This targeted practice will reinforce memorization, boost confidence, and ensure a firm understanding of multiplication concepts.
